We care for over 650 fish in our indoor multi-output facility. That’s using our twin 2000-gallon Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). Within each tank, we care for about 125 koi and 200 tilapia. Since there are two tanks, that totals over 650 fish to get gallons of fish poop consistently.
Tilapia is a delicious source of lean protein and Omega 3’s. One fillet, or 87 grams of fish, is only 112 calories. However, it’s got a whopping 23 grams of protein! Plus, tilapia contains iron, vitamin B6, magnesium, cobalamin, and 32% of your daily vitamin D.
Meanwhile, koi is also abundantly rich in Omega-3s and protein. Per 100 grams of fish, it has 130 calories and almost 17 grams of protein. It also contains vitamins A, D, E, and K, calcium, iron, and potassium.
Best of all, because we raise our fish in a controlled environment, our tilapia and koi are free of mercury and plastics. Pollution in oceans, lakes, and rivers is increasingly exposing wild-caught fish. So, that our fish are free of those harmful elements is an important distinction.
Ensuring quality is at the heart of everything we do. It allows us to give back to our communities, both by donating fish poop and our fish. It also allows us to offer farm tours at our 10,000 sq ft farm. If we can educate more people on how to truly take advantage of aquaponics, then we will accomplish our mission.
